The Virginia College Savings Plan is an independent state agency that administers Virginia’s 529 College Savings Plans including the Virginia Prepaid Education Program (VPEP), Virginia Education Savings Trust (VEST) and CollegeWealth. The agency is seeking qualified applicants for the following position:

Web Developer/Designer

SUMMARY

The Web Developer is responsible for the design and maintenance of the Agency’s internet and intranet including implementing custom graphics. This position works closely with multiple divisions to ensure the Agency’s message is clearly articulated to both internal and external customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the functionality and design of the agency website and intranet including regular updates and content changes
  • Proactively monitor the website to ensure customer ease of use and implement improvements as necessary
  • Track all website analytics for reporting
  • Design and develop new features and templates as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to evaluate and revise site content and structure
  • Collaborate with Technology resources to maintain satisfactory site performance
  • Write, code, test, and implement all features on the website in collaboration with appropriate agency divisions to ensure accessibility standards are met
  • Research and recommend new technologies as available to enhance user experience
  • Implement and monitor Agency’s social media strategy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, computer engineering, graphic design, or related field
  • Experience designing and maintaining professional web sites.  An equivalent combination of work experience and academic achievement may be considered

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in HTML, .ASP, CSS, XML, and JavaScript technologies and applications
  • Demonstrated proficiency using web development software such as Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs; experience using Access and SQL database technology
  • Knowledge of recognized web coding standards such as W3C
  • Ability to develop cross-browser compatibility and adhere to accessibility standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internet connectivity and security resources
  • Excellent communication, project management and collaboration skills
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects independently
  • Ability to facilitate cooperation from all team members in order to accomplish successful project outcomes
  • Broad knowledge of current technology and best practices in its use including web development, security and accessibility

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Typical office environment with considerable time in a sitting, stationary position
  • Must be able to occasionally  move about the office to retrieve files and documents
  • Constantly operate a computer and other office equipment including typing and keying
