Omari Dickens
Omari Dickens always knew he was going to go to college, but he wasn’t quite sure how he was going to get there. The Highland Springs High School graduate from eastern Henrico heard about SOAR Virginia at an assembly in his freshman year, and that’s when things started to come together. In addition to making college more accessible, SOAR Virginia answered a lot of his questions about both getting into and funding college. "Financial aid was kind of a mystery to me," he commented, "but the program put me on track for success and taught me what it takes to be successful." Now, Omari is pursuing degrees in both risk management and insurance at St. John’s University in New York City.
